Believing that faith formation is a life-long process of learning rooted in the celebration of the Sunday Mass, the Religious Education Program ("CCD") provides classroom instruction for children in grades 1 through 10 along with Sunday Mass. (We have a First Communion program for children in grade 2 and a Confirmation Program for students in grades 9 and 10.) Our schedule of classes are available below under "Registration, Class Schedules, Other Notices" and is also available on the Parish Calendar, which will be updated throughout the year. For more information, please contact Felicia Forger, Coordinator of Religious Education, at 781-894-3481 x3 or at religiouseducation@olca.org.

Volunteers for 2017-2018 School Year
We meet on Sunday mornings during the school year. We have positions for catechists as well as instructional aides. Those who volunteer in our program receive reduced tuition rates for their own children in the program. If you need further information, please contact Felicia Forger at religiouseducation@olca.org or 781-894-3481 x3.

All volunteers who work with children must attend VIRTUS: Protecting God's Children. See the VIRTUS page for more information on training sessions held by the Archdiocese of Boston.

Grades 1-8
Class begins with the 9 am Mass.  Following Mass, all students go to their grade level classroom for instruction until dismissal at 11:15 am. The children use the Sadlier Publishing Program called "We Believe."

These classes do not include "service" projects. Service is an important part of our Confirmation program and the students have opportunities throughout the year to participate in service to our parish and to the community. (See the Confirmandi Service section below for more information.)

       (3) What is your understanding of the Mass?
All essays must be typed and are due to the Religious Education coordinator in Feb. 2017.

Confirmandi Service
Service to God's church is an important part of our Grade 9 and 10 program in the spirit of helping others and showing our love for all God's children. We do not have a specific number of hours but we expect that all Confirmandi volunteer at the following events as a minimum requirement:
--Turkey-Rama: Saturday before Thanksgiving (Nov. 19, 2016 at 5pm in the Parish Hall).
--Holy Water Bottle-Filling, a few weeks before Easter.
--Ham-A-Rama: this year it is scheduled for Saturday, April 8, 2017.
Students should also consider the following volunteer opportunities:
--Lectoring at Mass at either the 4 pm on Saturday or 11am on Sunday.
--Volunteering as a classroom aide on Sunday mornings for Grades 1-6 at 10am when there is no Confirmation class scheduled.

Confirmandi may let us know in writing of other service projects (such as cancer walks, etc.) but Our Lady's service projects should take precedence for students in Grades 9 and 10.

Picking a Confirmation Sponsor
All Grade 10 Confirmandi need to pick a sponsor for Confirmation. The sponsor must be a confirmed Catholic who is not the student's parent. Student should consider a godparent as a possible sponsor because of the connections between the sacraments. Also, students should consider the following traits when picking a sponsor:
... faithful to Sunday Mass and receiving sacraments
... a living witness to the Catholic faith
     ... a person of prayer
... aware of a Christian's responsibility to follow Jesus in service to others
     ... honesty
... someone who knows you well and whom you know well.

Confirmation will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 1pm. All confirmandi and sponsors must arrive by 12:15pm.
Rehearsal for Confirmation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017, at 6:30pm.

Grade 2: Sacramental Preparation

Students in grade 2 will receive the sacrament of First Communion at the two regular Sunday Masses on May 7, 2017. Rehearsal for First Communion will be on Saturday, May 6, at 9 am and 10 am, for those children receiving at the 9 am and the 11 am Masses, respectively.

First Communion will be celebrated on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the 9:00 am and 11:00 am Masses.
Rehearsal is on Saturday, May 6, 2017 . . .
at 9 am for those children receiving First Communion at the 9 am Sunday Mass
         and
at 10 am for those children receiving First Communion at the 11 am Sunday Mass.
