VIRTUS: Protecting God's Children
Training Sessions for 2017-2018

As part of the Archdiocesan response to the scandal of sexual abuse of children in the Church, the Office of Child Advocacy, Implementation and Oversight has launched multiple programs that focus on the protection of children. A prevention and awareness training at the parish level for adults - called "Protecting God's Children," and administered by the Catholic Risk Retention Group under an umbrella called VIRTUS - consists of classroom presentations, printed materials and videotapes that will focus on the prevention of abuse and the protection of children.

For more background on this program, please see the Protecting Children page on the Archdiocesan website.

For more specific information on Virtus training, please see the VIRTUS Online website.

All adult volunteers who work directly with children or the elderly at Our Lady's Parish or at Our Lady's Academy are required to attend the VIRTUS: Protecting God's Children training session and are required to have a CORI check done. After you attend the session, you will receive a certificate, which will be kept on file in the Parish Office. You only need to attend this training once; you do not need to attend each year.
