OCIA - Order of Christian Initiation of Adults

We welcome all who want to journey in faith, realizing that we all come with our own life experiences. Whatever your background, you are welcome and valued.

What is OCIA?

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is a process in which adults desire to explore the Catholic faith and come together to learn, pray, and share life experiences in order to come to know our loving God. With the support of the parish community and working with a team of adult catechists, people interested in preparing for any/all of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation) will be guided to a deeper understanding and relationship with God, lived out through the Church.

By sharing faith conviction, spiritual insights, and enthusiasm for their life within the Church, they help others who are exploring what it means to be Catholic to make that faith commitment for themselves. Adult Religious Education Classes

What is it?
A two-month program, 7 classes total, will be offered for adults who are interested in becoming Catholic by receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and/or Confirmation.

Where will it be?
It will take place in the school conference room, the first room to the right as you enter the main entrance of the school.

When will it take place?
The fall classes will be after the 11:00 am Mass on Sundays from 12:15 to 1:15p.m. Dates to be determined.

How will it be accomplished?
Because of the short time frame available, we’ll use the yellow-colored YOUCAT book which is a summary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. You can either obtain a personal copy or purchase one for $20 from the Parish Office. If you wish additional reading material (not required) can also be purchased at the office. Catechism of the Catholic Church for $10 and Study Bible for $30.

Why go?
The purpose of the program is to help adults embrace the Catholic faith and receive the sacraments, giving them the tools they need to spend eternity with God in Heaven.
